Back in Tualatin Again
Ahoy, News From Tualatin groupies:
Yes, it's that time of year again when the citizens of Colorado take a day off, catch a few rays, barbecue some burgers, and enjoy concerts and festivities celebrating the fact that the Rileys have gone back to Oregon for a few months.
The folks in Oregon celebrate, too, but in their case, they're just celebrating the birth of our nation.
After some alarms and diversions in getting here, including a last-minute complete and unilateral change of itinerary by United Airlines resulting in wind sprints through DIA to make a too-short connection, and the rubbing of salt in our symbolic wounds by then delaying boarding of the plane we just ran to catch, we had a nice flight here, arriving at about ten-thirty Friday. Which at this latitude and date is just about dusk.
We had a fun day yesterday visiting the Kunzes and catching up with (or at least running to head in the same directions as) Ben and all his new talents and abilities. As we walked in the door, Ben was eager to show us the box that his new potty chair came in, THEN kisses and hugs for Mum. (Pum kisses came later ... I know I'm kinda scary.)
After tours of Ben's toys, books, room, backyard and kitchen, we all went out for a walk and lunch, then returned for the highlight of the day, a group nap. Ben got the total giggles "chasing" Mum and Pum home again while on our walk. Passers-by also laughed at the sight of us "running" away from him.
Today, we getting ourselves esconced back into our condo high atop the Tualatin Green building (well, on the middle floor of a three-story building, anyway.) Everything seems to be in order here, and the new little car was all set to get out and go. We've gone out and got a grocery (small refrigerator), and Karen has been dusting. My duties involve plugging things back in and starting them up again.
We haven't re-adjusted to the Pacific time zone yet, though, and still get up and go to bed early. This will pass.
I'm please to tell you all (I know you've just been waiting to hear) that our anti-swallow campaign has apparently been successful, as our deck is not home to a swallows' nest this year, nor the resulting mound of disgusting supporting evidence.
Well, that's about as much padding as I can do of basically no news; more later once we actually do some stuff - pictures and anecdotes about Ben soon!
Love you guys!
Mike & Karen
