Re: News from Tualatin

Dad only spilled the beans about Ben's walking because he's getting impatient for me to get in here and start bragging, which I told him I would. Since I have failed so far to keep you all updated, here's a short list of Ben's fun tricks:

He can make the right noises for "tiger", "chicken", "siren", and (of course) "truck".  Humorously, when I said something about getting the chicken out of the oven for dinner last night, he said "bok bok bok".

He will clap, stomp feet, bonk heads (with me or dad) and make burbling lip noises on command.  He knows the difference between throwing and kicking, and the "scoot" that he uses instead of crawling makes him uniquely suited for kicking a balloon around the house.

Like many babies his age, he is obsessed with putting things in and out of other things (ie. blocks into Tupperware, pans into the closet, etc.).  He likes to get things out of the kitchen cabinets and "drive" them around the house - apparently our pie pan has a "hemi".

The walking is super cute, and still only happens in short bursts and when enthusiastically encouraged.  But he thinks it's the greatest and gets very excited about himself when he does it.  We're very much looking forward to the floor-bound stage being over, and I refuse to be intimidated by everyone's warnings that we are about to get VERY busy indeed.

Aaron recently updated the web site, so rather than attach photos I'll just give you the link:
www.fotki.com/boiler96.  As you can see, Ben's childhood has been pretty well documented.  :)

Thanks for tuning in!
Cheers - Morgan (and family)

News from Tualatin

Morgan says it's okay to tell you all that Ben is now walking!  He also talks a little ... Mama, Dada, and Vrroom for anything with wheels.  Morgan and Aaron have also been teaching Ben ASL (sign language), and he signs hungry (eat), bye-bye, finished, bath, airplane, and mama.

We purged the swallows' nests from our patio this morning, so I'm just sitting here waiting for the bird flu to set in; in the meantime, for old times' sake:

Free broadband users "less happy"
Also, Republicans are happier than Democrats, married folks are happier than singles, conservatives are happier than liberals, rural folks are happier than city dwellers, the religious are happier than agnostics and atheists, and little kids and retirees are happier than working people (duh), according to a recent study.  I draw no conclusions from this except maybe "ignorance is bliss."

Indecipherable headline of the day:
Pakistan triumph despite Lara ton
Okay, fine.
