Friday was Aaron's birthday. I guess his main gift was dirty diapers, but Benjamin did thoughfully (and with lots of help from momma) get him a nice engraved picture frame with his (Ben's) picture in it.
Karen and I went to the Geek Festival Saturday. At least, that's what I assumed it was going to be, with all the electronics engineers here. Was I shocked when it turned out to be a Greek Festival!
But we made the best of it, and bought one of everything and ate it. Then we went back and bought several more of some things to take to the Kunzes' today (Sunday) as treats for visitors we knew were coming by.
Karen's uncle Harlan and aunt Audrey are here in Portland visiting Audrey's brother's family, and they came over to the Kunzes' for a peek at the new baby and some baclava. Well, they actually didn't know they were getting baclava, but they didn't say no to it either, or, if they did, they accepted the Marionberry pie.
We had a great visit with them. They're great folks, and I don't just mean "great" in the sense that they're Benjamin's great-great uncle and aunt, either.
Tuesday, Aaron's parents are arriving here from Chicago for a short visit with their new grandson. We're looking forward to seeing them again; chances are, we'll all have a nice dinner together during their stay.
I am sending a couple of new pictures along separately ... if I enclose them with this letter, some recipients' mail systems don't accept them.
The weather here has definitely turned full Portland on us ... cool and drippy. The entire month of September was without measurable rain, a rarity here, except for the last day, which had enough to surpass the typical September's total in one day. It has continued to drizzle or rain since, a welcome relief to what passes for a drought hereabouts. A great chance to get all cozy and snug with Benny.
Love you all -
Mike and Karen
